Concerts by this band are an extreme psychedelic doom experience and have so far been almost exclusively available in South America. The Argentine band Mephistofeles has achieved cult status in the underground and far beyond, thanks in part to many active indie labels such as Karlsruhe's Hand of Doom Records, which sent the band's obscure releases on long journeys to Europe and distributed them among fans on tape and vinyl. Their devilish combination of garage rock, stoner doom and ritual atmosphere has earned Mephistofeles a devoted following. Mephistofeles don't sound smooth, polished or mainstream. Between all the sluggish, lava-like doom sounds, there are also moments of harmony.
